Choose the Right Voiceover Category to Be Successful in Voiceover

It takes more than a good voice to become a successful voiceover artist. A competitive voice talent needs to be able to perform according to the demands of both the script and the category of voiceover. For that reason, not all voice talent is right for every voiceover category, and it’s important to determine which voiceover category is right for you.

The most common voiceover category is commercial voiceover. Commercial voiceover involves narrating copy for broadcast and internet commercials and usually requires an everyday-sounding voice. Promo voiceover involves narrating copy for TV show promotional ads and typically requires a booming or larger-than-life voice. Movie trailer voiceover involves narrating copy for movie trailers that are played in the cinema or on TV and radio. Typically movie trailer narrators have big, deep, resonant voices. Other types of voiceover categories include animation voiceover, audiobook voiceover, industrial voiceover, and phone-on-hold voiceover. Experiment with copy and take some classes to discover which voiceover category is right for your natural abilities and talent.

Singing Lessons Los Angeles – Listening to Other Singers

Hi! Your Voice Teacher Greg Safel here, Singing Lessons Los Angeles, and I want to talk about the importance of listening to other singersand listening to other singers in different genres. A pop singershould really listen to some opera singers, some country singersshould listen to some blues singers. When you listen to other singersin different genres you get inspiration. Your inspired even if youthink you don’t like that kind of music, it can be an inspiration. Ihave a girl in my studio who aspires to be a pop singer and she hearda girl do a Broadway kind of song in her acting class, she wascompletely inspired and it changed her singing. When she came to herlesson she sounded like a different singer. It was amazing! Shelistened to another kind of singer and got very inspired. So thatwould be my recommendation. Mostly, listen to some very good operasingers because they do things with their voice that are very correct, not that you have to sound like them or sing like them but the waythey use their voice is very, very important! This is Greg Safel, yourVoice Teacher Singing Lessons Los Angeles.
